Class Descriptions - Provided by Instructors!

L&A - Laura & Adam. A&J - Adam & Joshua. D&J-Dee & Joshua.

— Saturday CLASSES —

Following the Follow (L&A): Leads, need some inspiration for your dancing?  Follows want to learn to communicate ideas to your leads without breaking the flow?  This class will give leads the tools to better hear their follows and adapt to new ideas on the spot.  Follows will develop creativity within their connection and confidence in clearly communicating ideas without the fear of hijacking the dance.

Building a Dream (D&J):Bring your partner dancing to a new level...of play! Build the dream of a partner dance that is intuitive and playful.

Social Dance Challenge Class (L&A): Let's play a game! We will ask you to use your skills of learning new moves and techniques and use your own improvisational ideas to play a game with other members of the class. Creativity, musicianship, and social dance super powers will be developed.

Lindy Chorus (D&J): Check out this fun and classic routine while ramping up the speed!

The Dawn Hampton Class (L&A): This class is dedicated to our beloved Dawn Hampton whose profound musical spirit influenced a conversation based way of dancing that was present when Dawn danced as both a leader and a follower, this class is about conversation, music and equality.

Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It (D&J): We love 'em but we don't always do em! Let's play with jig kicks!

— Sunday Classes —

Let’s Do It, Let’s All Improv! (Part 1&2) (A&J): This class is about building your ideas into your own unique voice as a jazz dancer. Both Adam and Josh believe strongly in a foundation of historical movement, musicianship, improvisation, and self expression as the building blocks of great Jazz dancing. We will ask you to use all of these skills in our classes. This includes, improv, Choreography, group rhythm exercises and call and response.

Let It Flow (Dee): Learn ways to sew moves seamlessly and organically together.

Stamp Yo' Dance (Dee): Explore ways to own your movement and expression in your solo dancing.

Savoy Kicks (L&A): Savoy Kicks is a variation step known mostly from the Dean Collins Shim Sham. But, what if it was a new basic? what can you do with Savoy Kicks? This class will give you the chance to learn a whole new basic and all the moves you love in a whole new way.

Thread the Deedle (D&J): An enjoyable, creative combo class with syncopated footwork, and partnered play.

Smooth Rhythm Makes Me Hop (L&A): It's been said that at the Savoy Ballroom there were two types of Lindy Hoppers, Smooths and Hoppers. While smooth style is usually associated with the Los Angeles dancers of the 1940's, what if "Smooth" and "Hop" were two rhythmic tools to express the music in a different way that either lead or follow could instigate to influence each other? Confused yet? Come to this class and find out what we're talking about!

Charleston in Lindy Hop (D&J): Add to your charleston by exploring figures we already know in lindy hop!
